Fantastic gluten-free soy-free pasta July 4, 2008 P. Zack 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'm assuming that if you are looking at this product, you or someone you cook for is no longer able to consume gluten. If this is NOT the case, then you really have no reason to purchase any Orgran products. Wheat based pasta has a better texture, and tastes better in almost all cases. Wheat is a flexible grain, and can be used in many forms. Finding substitutes is VERY hard. So, if you are NEW to a gluten-free diet you need to understand that there IS a withdrawal period from wheat based products. I say this up front so you understand that this will NOT taste or cook exactly like the wheat-pasta you are used to eating. But, in my opinion, this is simply the BEST non-wheat pasta on the market today. Pasta was a major part of our diet before my son was diagnosed with celiac disease. We used to eat pasta 2-3 times a week. The kids loved pasta in all its forms, and I loved the quick and easy meals. So, when my son was diagnosed with celiac, I tried EVERY, and I mean every, rice based pasta on the market. Nearly all of them tasted like paste, and turned to mush upon even the most careful cooking. THIS, pasta, however remains firm when cooked and has a al dente like texture when cooked. Although there IS a hit of graininess you won't find in wheat based pasta, you hardly notice at all with a spicy sauce or a good marinara. My whole family ended up going gluten-free, and Orgran pasta is a staple of our diet. This product is so good that you may find you miss wheat-based pasta less and less as time passes.
For a gluten free product-- try this! April 12, 2008 William Shoemaker Great substitute for those who can't eat regular pasta. Daughter tolerates the taste and texture. It is a little grainy and chewy but not bad.
great texture March 2, 2008 K. Turet (PA USA) Many gluten free pastas, we have found, are very mushy irrespective of cooking time. This pasta has more "normal pasta" texture and also reheats well...we are enjoying it and have reordered!
Orgran Rice & Millet Pasta is EXCELLENT February 8, 2008 Kmick (Cape Cod, MA USA) Orgran's Rice & Millet Pasta is so delicious. For those who are allergic to wheat/Gluten this is the best pasta I have tried so far and it tastes so close to regular wheat pasta it is unbelievable. Try it for yourself. You will be delighted.
Great GF Product January 25, 2008 Trevor H. Laughter This is one of the better if not the best GF pasta our family has had. A break from plain rice pasta.
