4 out of 5 stars Good for smoothies and more   January 3, 2008

I saw the review about oatmeal, which is a good idea. It does work well for smoothies if you sweeten them, but otherwise it may be a bit chalky?
I am using this, which is the actual rice lees used for some Japanese pickling, to make the basis for Japanese quick pickles. It has proven to be excellent for this purpose, and should be advertised in this regards, since alternatives are not readily available nationwide in the USA.

Bob's Red Mill Rice Bran, 18-Ounce Bags (Pack of 8)
I find that the rice bran is an excellent substitue for oatmeal in my cookies etc. Oats is one of my allergies.
