Amazon.com Review Providing myriad options, this automatic bread maker embodies the marvels of 21st century electronic convenience and choice. Yes, it mixes, kneads, rises, and bakes bread in three loaf sizes up to 2-1/2 pounds. But its digital controls go much further, offering settings for white, whole wheat, multigrain, and French (crisp crust, open texture) breads, each made according to what's best for that particular style. Other settings permit rapid baking and baking sandwich bread with a soft crust. For raisin (or other dried-fruit) bread, a beeper signals when to add the fruit so it's not crushed during kneading. Crust color--dark or light--can be selected as well. The machine automatically adds yeast at the proper time from a dispenser on the unit's lid. It also bakes non-yeast, quick breads-- like banana and gingerbread--and sweet cakes. And it mixes, kneads, and rises doughs for pizza, focaccia, croissants, and other pastries without baking them. A timer permits the machine to be programmed up to 13 hours in advance so fresh bread or cake is available for breakfast or dinner. For cleanup convenience, the baking pan is nonstick. Clad in metal and packing 550 watts of power, the machine measures 14 inches wide, 13.5 inches high, and 9 inches deep. Its instruction booklet is exceptionally easy to understand and includes recipes for 40 breads and doughs along with an insightful guide to baking basics and illustrated tips for making pastries. --Fred Brack

Works like a charm September 5, 2008 Consumer 100 We have had previous breadmakers and were reasonable satisfied. They worked for several years before failing so we were not disappointed. As the latest one was starting to make a lot of noise, we researched breadmakers and selected the Panasonic because of other reviewer comments.
As with most reviewer comments, there are some that are very negative and some very positive but most in the middle. The reviews on the Panasonic were skewed to the very positive. We have been very satisfied. It makes bread better than our previous models. The noise level is very low and it is easy to remove the bread and to clean.
Get this one! September 3, 2008 DanaAnna I have had my Panasonic for 3 years now. I make bread 1-2x a week consistently. This machine has yielded nothing but perfect loaves every time! I grind my own flour at home with wheat berries. This flour is a heavier/denser flour, compared with the store brands. The breadmaker I had prior to the Panasonic could not knead the dough adequately. However, the Panasonic rose to the occasion. It is a perfect machine for anyone who consistently makes homemade bread; it's reliable, well built, and perfect for home use. From a perfectionist, get this product if you are serious about your bread!
Bread Machine Review September 3, 2008 Sarah Thompson (Texas) The bread machine I ordered was broken when it arrived. The process for returns was user friendly and there were no problems with the return. There was a short wait before reshipment. I am pleased with my new bread machine and with the service I got.
an excellent bread maker August 30, 2008 Kathryn A. Loggie (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL) I read ALL the reviews and chose the Panasonic SD-YD250 for my first bread maker. I was not disappointed. While the instructions might not have been written by someone whose first language is English, they are pretty easy to understand, and the button options are very straight-forward. Cleaning is a snap. I've made 4 different breads with no problems (and I'm not a perfectionist when it comes to measuring). I do wish that there were more recipes included with the instructions, but I'm sure I'll find plenty on the WWW.
wake up to baked bread August 26, 2008 Vicky Turner (Seattle WA) Love this Panasonic Bread maker, its my second one. I had another one that I purchased 15 years ago and lost a part to it I could no longer replace. I must say the new one is even better. Bread comes out perfect each time, it has a setting for small, medium or large loaf. This is good if making for two vs making for a dinner party of six. Bread is best fresh but stored properly will last days. The best part is setting the timer the night before and having it start baking about the time my kids are getting up for school. They get out of bed much nicer when they smell bread baking for breakfast! I take that back the best part is that I am sleeping and baking bread at the same time..I recommend the Panasonic hands down over other brands I have tasted bread from. Its worth a little higher cost for the Panasonic.
