Post here about stores you find helpful when you go shopping for GF food.

I've been going to another natural food store called Whole Foods Market.Â

It has a lot of Gluten free food including Bob's Red Mill, Pamelas, Glutano, Health Valley CerealÂ etc.Â It is a bit more expensive than buying online but when you add in the S&H, it comes out about the same.Â

They have a new bakery section that is completely Gluten free.Â Apparently one of their bakers found out he has Celiac Disease and over time they opened up a new facility for him to make Gluten free goodies.Â I haven't tried anything yet, but it all looks yummy in the brochure.Â

Whole Foods is a wonderful store! I used to shop there when I lived in the SF Bay Area. Now we live in the desert and there is no local Whole Foods store.

They certainly do have a lot of GF food, and they have a good knowledge of the concerns we celiacs have.

Though I've never been in person, I'm told that Wild Oats has a lot of great GF food.

Wild Oats does have alot of selection. As does Bashas and Sunflower Market (which may only be in AZ?) But, I've also found rice pasta at my local Safeway store.

Wild Oats is a great place. They have a very good gluten free listing of their products. In Indy where I live, we also have access to Georgetown Market, which devots most of an aisle to gluten free products. I have noticed that each and every place has a different selection of products from the same companies so it pays to shop at a variety of places. Even Meijer and Wal-mart have the occasional gluten free product if you look and if someone else points it out to me.

There is a Wild Oats around here but I haven't been to it yet. Whole Foods Market is closer and they have a great selection of GF foods.

Our 3 big local supermarkets all have at least part of an isle dedicated to GF food now. It is good that it is becoming more common out there.

I'm new here, so bear with me. My wife has been through an awful time, and finally has been tentatively diagnosed with Celiac or Sprue. They will do more tests to verify what kind it is. I've read up and seen only two kinds, tropical Sprue, and Celiac Sprue. It is likely she has Celiac Disease. My question is what stores in my area of Temple Texas between Austin and Waco have stores for Celiacs?

John - IM in Sugar Land-- Do you have krogers there? They have a lot of gluten free, down their healthy aisle, also over by their frozen they have amys brand and some gf breads.

???the safeway brand has a lot of gf-- maybe a google search will tell which is all gf.
Also, I know my son is in Austin and they have restaurants that are gf there.

the safeway brand has a lot of gf-- maybe a google search will tell which is all gf.

If you e mail Safeway they will e mail you a list of all their gluten free items.

I have tried Whole Foods GF bakery items and Most of them are good. The bread still leaves something to be desired. The brownies are very good. the cookies are too. I am not a big fan of pecan pie but I liked that also. Its all a little pricey but what isn't thats GF? Note: these are not all casien free!

I have been noticing in Wal-Mart that some of the store brand foods have Gluten Free in the ingredients. Its nice to see a company trying to help out the customer!!

Epicure Gourmet in Spring Lake Heights NJ is a phenomenal GF store with personal pan pizzas, cookies, cakes, breads, brownies, etc. The owner, Chris, is totally dedicated to our CD community!
