Chebe products rock!
« on: November 13, 2008, 05:36:43 AM »
I've seen the Chebe line of products in stores many times, but only recently decided to try them. I'm glad I did!
The foccacia bread was so good I ate the first one all in one sitting!! The second one I decided to share with hubby (and Mom, who was visiting that day)
Hubby, who is "used to" GF versions of breads, said "This gives me hope for gluten free bread"
Mom, who isn't quite as used to eating GF said "I really wouldn't have guessed... I'd order this in a restaurant"

Last night I tried the pizza dough... just a tip, if you think you've rolled it out too flat, it's probably just right. This stuff does "puff up" much more than you'd expect. I did have to poke it with a fork and flatten it out several times. It was, by far, though the best GF pizza I've had yet. (and I've tried quite a few)

I've bought the Chebe breadsticks for my son, usually to make when we have pasta or pizza. They are pretty good, and he seems to like them. I like that the breadsticks can be put in the oven straight from the freezer.

I'll have to look for the pizza dough... I think he sometimes gets tired of pizza made with corn tortillas.  :-)

Wow, I'll have to give this a try.  Thanks for the heads-up!

The pizza, unlike the breadsticks, comes in a bag of flour mix. It called for milk, oil, and eggs... but I'm sure those could be substituted by those who can't/don't eat them.
It wasn't hard at all to make- though the dough was quite "sticky". I've learned to oil up a glass (no rolling pin here) and use that to roll it out,
