That video was especially interesting to me because I signed up for the first round of testing of this potential drug in Baltimore a number of years ago.  I was ruled out of the test at the last minute because I depend on thyroid supplements.  My original thyroid gland was nuked into orbit using radioactive iodine as treatment for Grave's disease - another auto-immune disorder that was discovered in me before my diagnosis with celiac disease.  Now the only thyroid hormone I get is once a day at 6AM from a pill tray.  So it goes.

At that time the drug was being called AT-1001, if it ever does reach the market it will be a product of a new pharmaceutical firm Alba Therapeutics, based in Baltimore MD.  There are several threads about this drug in the Treatment board, including http://www.sensibleceliac.com/discuss/index.php/topic,2149.0.html

It was a disappointment to hear that the drug trial in Boston did not produce the hoped for results.  I guess it is still possible that this drug could be effective in larger doses, or when taken over a period of time.

I still hope to be able to eat real bread during my lifetime, but I've been known to hope for quite a few things Smiley
