Well, this is really cheerful.  It seems that people with celiac disease are at increased risk of being hyposplenic, in other words as if they had no spleen.  The study finds that such persons are at an increased risk of pneumococcal infections.

Just one of the many benefits brought to you by your whacked out immune system, I guess.

As a completely uninformed non-medical person, the conclusion I get from this is that people with celiac disease might be well advised to get pneumonia vaccines.
