Alba Therapeutics Start Phase IIb Tests of Celiac Drug: Larazotide Acetate

Alba Therapeutics, the Baltimore company that has been developing the first pharmaceutical product for people with celiac disease, has started their phase IIb tests.  The drug, formerly known only by the code name AT1001, has now been described as Larazotide Acetate.

This is the drug for which I once traveled across the country, only to be disqualified from the first round of testing years ago.

From all that I read and hear, this is going to be The Big One.  I am hoping to get this drug and eat 50 pounds of bread before they put me in the ground (or sprinkle my ashes on the ground).  Right now it is looking like a highly possible event.

Can you imagine taking a 14" baguette of french bread and tearing it,  oooooh yes.   I will eat so much bread that someone will have to carry me home.  Oh yes.  I'm saving now to buy all of this bread.  Oh yes.

I can't wait to go to a fine restaurant and order anything I want, rather than settling for some pitiful fish without a sauce or plain salad.  Indian food with naan bread.  French Dip sandwich.  Tortellini.  Burritos!
