Funny Story!
« on: April 13, 2005, 05:40:56 PM »
My sister's brother-in-law was on a GF diet for quite some time before they confirmed that he did not have Celiac. During that time, his mom bought tons of GF mixes, breads, and pastas.  She handed it all over to me since she didn't have use for it anymore.  One of the things she gave me was this packaged french bread. Just the thought of it was sketchy to me.  The other night, my sister put olive oil and herbs on it and put it in the oven- now that sounded good to me! When we sat down to eat dinner, I anxiously took a bite of it. Thankfully and luckily, no one saw my reaction. My sister noticed my untouched bread and asked me how it was, no comment.  Before I knew it, the bread (if you could call it that) was being passed around the table and everyone took a bite.  They all had the same reaction as me- spitting it back out! It was just plain awful! It was very gummy- you couldn't chew it! So we gave the rest of it to my dog. He had it in his mouth, then spit it out. Picked it back up, tried chewing it, then spit it back out again! He picked it up again, and spit it out again- we were all hysterical! So there was the "bread" lying on the floor and my dog was looking up at us like it was some kind of joke! It was just too funny.  The bread ended up in the trash can.

I've had GF bread that was that good before :-)

Just be careful if you are shopping for GF bread in a health food store, watch out how you handle it. I've often thought that with some types of GF bread you could break your foot if you dropped it accidentally.

Thanks for posting that!
